Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a condition that affects a woman's emotions, physical health, and behavior during certain days of the menstrual cycle, generally just before her menses. PMS is a very common condition. More than 90% of women experience these symptoms throughout their lives.
The current study shown that yoga can decrease the symptoms of PMS in most of women. Results from this study confirm the previous outcomes of physical and aerobic exercises that showed a reduction in the symptoms of PMS.
Apart from boosting metabolism and helping torch fat, regular yoga practice for a few minutes every day has been known to help alleviate, and even prevent, PMS symptoms. According to the book, Yoga for a Healthy Menstrual Cycle, yoga practice helps by releasing endorphins, the mood-elevating compounds of the body.
