What is Child's Pose?

Bālāsana or Child's Pose, or Child's Resting Pose is a kneeling asana in yoga. Balasana is a counter asana for various asanas and is usually practiced before and after difficult yoga pose, like Sirsasana. You can stay at this pose from 1 to 3 minutes with inhale and exhale. Over the time you can increase the time until 5 minutes.

How to do Child's Pose

Step 1 - Side

Kneel on the floor with your big toes together and your knees hip-width apart. Rest your palms on top of your thighs.

Your big toes should touch together.

Step 3 - Front

With a deep breath bend your torso from your waist towards floor.

Final Step

Place your torso between your inner tights. Put your hands on the floor and then put your forehead on the floor.

Come out from the pose: With a deep breath lift your head and your hands off the floor. Sit on yoga mat and then close your knees.

Tip for beginners: If you can's put your hip on your heelsTips you can put a thin blanket or a pillow between your thighs and your shins then do the pose.
Partnetr assistance: When you are doing the pose, your partner should stand behind of you. His/ her legs should be beside of your body. Now your partner should push his/ her hands on your back. His/ her right hand on top of your back, as his/ her fingers are towards your head. His/ her left hand on your tailbone, as his/ her fingers are towards buttock. This can help you to do the pose easier. And also is good for who can’t put their body down easily. Be careful your partner shouldn’t put too much pressure on your back.
